A well-used and traditional means of restoring the spaces resulting from tooth loss. Dentures are always removable and can be partial, if only a few teeth are missing; or full, if all teeth in an arch are missing. Dentures are relatively quick to produce and we offer a range of different materials.

Full or Partial Acrylic – This material generally uses suction to keep the denture in place. While these dentures function well and look good, they can take time to get used to, and upper dentures require some palatal coverage, which may alter taste sensations. Partial Chrome – These dentures are very precisely fitting and can have clasps and rests which help to anchor them to the remaining teeth allowing more stability and function. Chrome dentures are finer and therefore we can often leave some of the roof of the mouth uncovered.

Immediate Acrylic Dentures – These are used when tooth extractions are required. The immediate denture is fitted at the same appointment that your teeth are extracted. This means you have no spaces where the teeth are removed. These immediate dentures are useful for a short time, as following any extraction, the bone and gums shrink and the denture won’t fit. We can then reline the denture at an additional cost to ensure it continues to fit well. The denture making process usually takes 4 visits, approximately one week apart to allow the lab to carry out works to be returned to us.

Visit 1 – initial impressions are taken to allow custom made trays to be made

Visit 2 – using your custom made trays, a second set of accurate impressions are

taken. Using wax blocks, your bite is recorded. The colour, size and shape of your

teeth are chosen.

Visit 3 – a wax try in will be made to allow us to check the denture before it is made. You will be able to approve the appearance and if you are happy, the dentures are sent to the lab for completion.

Visit 4 – Your denture is fitted. Following the fit of your dentures, it is common to require some further minor adjustments at an additional visit to ensure they are comfortable.
